The @bigdesignmarket is open today from 10-5pm at the Royal Exhibition Building (entry $6). It was the perfect place to escape the summer rain yesterday and get all my Christmas shopping done. The weather is looking better today but I couldn’t recommend this more. There are over 250 stalls with so much variety including ceramics, candles, jewellery, textiles, art and quirky inventions. For the hungry amongst us, there are plenty of stalls offering food and drink tastings too. Make sure you get down there for a enjoyable, delicious and productive day.

I snuck in a visit to see Pierre Bonnard at the NGV, before it closes at the end of this week. Bonnard is known as the ‘painter of happiness’ because of his iridescent colour palette and the way he captured fleeting moments of everyday life. His works are really beautiful. After being cancelled in 2020 (thanks to the plague), the exhibition finally happened 3 years later and it was worth the wait. Many of these pieces have travelled to us all the way from the Musee d’Orsay in Paris and will go back home soon. It’s your last chance to visit!

On a sunny day, I decided to wander around the Edinburgh Gardens and discovered the Tin Pot Cafe nearby. I fell in love with the vibe of this place immediately with its homely feel and vintage bric a brac decor. I wanted to walk out with one of those beautiful stained glass lights, in addition to my delicious coffee and sweet treat chosen from the tempting counter selection. There’s no doubt this a beloved local for many - this is a cute spot to come back and spend some time.

Honestly, it was a last minute decision to drive up to the lookout and we sure weren’t expecting this viewpoint to be so spectacular! A short ten minute walk will bring you to Marriner’s Lookout, with its sweeping views over Apollo Bay. This spot is well worth packing a picnic for, so you can relax and enjoy the views. Would you like to go here?

GRAND CANYON WALK | If I had to describe this place in one world, it would be ‘magical’. This walk makes you feel like you’ve wandered into a fairy tale book. Your walk will start with a steep descent into the canyon where it’s lush and green, and you can wander through gullies full of ferns and moss. The whole track is an adventure with stepping stone river crossings and passes under spectacular waterfalls. I would put this up there as one of my favourite hikes in Australia, you must go if visiting the Blue Mountains.

✨The Picasso Century✨

The NGV’s latest exhibition features over 80 works by Pablo Picasso, brought to us all the way from Centre Pompidou and Musée National Picasso-Paris.

Considering how well renowned Picasso is, it’s strange to think he was alive until the 1970s. One of my favourite parts was actually a video of Picasso drawing, which is only possible because of this.

He experimented with many styles of painting, but he was also a sculptor, ceramicist and printmaker, so there is a lot of variety in this exhibition.

Tickets are $30. Make sure you visit before it closes on October 9th. And don’t forget to bring your head phones if you’re keen on the audio guide for an extra $5.

✨The Picasso Century✨

The NGV’s latest exhibition features over 80 works by Pablo Picasso, brought to us all the way from Centre Pompidou and Musée National Picasso-Paris.

Considering how well renowned Picasso is, it’s strange to think he was alive until the 1970s. One of my favourite parts was actually a video of Picasso drawing, which is only possible because of this.

He experimented with many styles of painting, but he was also a sculptor, ceramicist and printmaker, so there is a lot of variety in this exhibition.

Tickets are $30. Make sure you visit before it closes on October 9th. And don’t forget to bring your head phones if you’re keen on the audio guide for an extra $5.
